Vice President - Technology Dr. Rakesh Rangaswamy
Dr. Rakesh Rangaswamy is a traffic engineer with a Ph.D. and M.S. in Transportation Engineering from the University of South Florida, and a B.E. in Civil Engineering from NITTE, Bangalore. He spent four years working as a traffic engineer in Florida and served as a research assistant at USF’s Center for Urban Transportation Research (CUTR), where he studied Intelligent Transportation Systems and pedestrian and bicycle safety.
He is a member of the International Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and previously served as President and Vice President of USF-ITE, as well as Webmaster for GTSITE. He was also a key contributor to the ITE Data Driven Safety Analysis Committee’s guidelines on near miss analysis.
His research has focused on work zone crash severity and driver behavior, using statistical and mixed logit modeling to understand injury outcomes in rural and urban work zones. He has also published on bicyclist helmet effectiveness, motorcycle safety on rural curves, and arterial traffic safety and mobility strategies (TSM&O).
